            Arguments for the Correspondence View of Truth:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
            1. It is implied in the ninth command (\u201cYou shall not bear false witness\u201d), i.e., don\u2019t misrepresent the facts.<\/strong><\/li>
            2. It is entailed in Acts 24 when it says you can \u201clearn the truth\u201d when you \u201cverify [the facts]\u201d (vs. 8, 11).<\/strong><\/li>
            3. It is manifest in Genesis 42:16 when Joseph said they should look at the facts \u201cso that your words may be tested to see if you are telling the truth.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>
            4. It was employed in the test for a false prophet whose prophecy was considered false \u201cif the word does not come to pass or come true\u201d (Deut. 18:22).<\/strong><\/li>
            5. It is utilized in everyday conversations when we consider something false if it misrepresents the facts (e.g., we say \u201ccheck the facts\u201d and \u201ccheck it out for yourself\u201d and the like).<\/strong><\/li>
            6. It is essential to a legal oath when one promises \u201cto tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.\u201d <\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

              Answering Objections to the Correspondence View:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

              Objection 1:<\/b><\/span> Jesus said, \u201cI am the truth\u201d (not, \u201cI correspond to the facts\u201d).<\/b><\/p>

              Response<\/b><\/span>:<\/span> Jesus\u2019 lips and life perfectly corresponded to the facts. Persons can represent truth as well as propositions.<\/b><\/p>

              Objection 2:<\/b><\/span> God is truth, and He does not correspond to any reality beyond Himself.<\/b><\/p>

              Response:<\/b><\/span> God\u2019s words and actions do correspond to His mind and nature.\u00a0 <\/b>Thus<\/b> God is \u201ctrue\u201d to Himself.\u00a0 This is perfect correspondence. <\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
